Sailing is all about preparation. Knowing what to carry with you and what you really don´t need can save you a lot of time while preparing, especially if you are sailing with children. Here we will give you some tips if this is your first time doing this type of vacation.
First thing is you have to decide do you want a sailboat or a catamaran.
If this is your first time on a boat you don’t have to go around buying fancy sailing clothes. Weather from May until October is pretty warm and we recommend you bring only one or two long sleeve shirts and a water resistant jacket just in case. You will be walking in your swim shorts most of the time anyway. Hat and sunglasses are mandatory to make navigation easier and your photos even more beautiful.
Being all day in the sun and fresh air can really open up your appetite. Since there aren’t supermarkets on every corner you need to be fully prepared. You can stock up when you arrive at the marina. Other way is that you preorder you groceries in advance so they are waiting for you when you arrive to the boat. Most of our guests find this option very practical. Your skipper will tell you when there are opportunities to stock up again. Usually every 2-3 days you will be able to resupply. Speaking from experience we find that wine and snacks are essential.
Make sure that you bring some pills or patches to avoid seasickness if you think that it will affect you on your sailing holiday. Best thing to do is to counsel with your doctor before the holiday. Usually the sea is pretty still and we don’t have many cases of seasickness but better to be safe than sorry.

On the islands many marinas, supermarkets and restaurants do not accept credit cards since the internet signal can be weak. Make sure you always have some cash with you. Do not worry. There are plenty of ATMs on the islands.
Try to bring your clothes and belongings in soft cases and travel bags. Boats and especially your cabins have a limited amount of storage room so sometimes it can be tricky to find a place to fit hard suitcases. There is an option to leave them in the marina storage room for a fee but not every marina provides such a service.
Snorkelling equipment allows you to see what is under us when we anchor for a lunch swim stop. They can be bought or rented if you don’t want to bring your own.
